Pastor Jason Powers grew up in and around churches in San Antonio, TX. Jason attended Abilene Christian University where he played baseball for two years and walked away from the faith he had grown up with. Jason’s decade long search for meaning and truth apart from God came to a head late one night as he wrestled with all the implications of life without the redeeming, restoring power of a loving God and decided that he’d rather be with God than ever be without Him again. Jason began attending River City Community Church in San Antonio, TX the next Sunday, and was hired as the full time youth pastor within 18 months. In his 10 years of ministry at RCCC, Jason served as youth pastor, Small Groups Pastor, Minister of Spiritual Formation, and Central Campus Pastor at the largest of three multi-site campuses with over 1000 in attendance weekly. During that time he met his wife Natalie (who also worked on staff as the Worship Director). Early in 2012, Jason began to sense restlessness in his life and ministry. In late July, Jason and Natalie felt released to pursue other ministry opportunities. Under the careful loving leadership and guidance of RCCC Senior Pastor Sean Azzaro, Jason and Natalie accepted the calling to plant the New Braunfels multi-site campus as an independent congregation. Since December 2012, Jason and Natalie have lived in New Braunfels with their 3 children, Jackson, Reagan, and Madison.
