HOW WE GOT HERE
Being a church for New Braunfels is a ministry-defining statement. We consider it a gift to be here, and a responsibility to serve and meet the needs of our city just as Jesus would. From the beginning, that calling has resonated with people who love this town and feel called here. It has also meant that almost since day one, we have had a space issue.
In the summer of 2019, sensing that we were maximizing our home on River Road, we prayerfully committed to begin seeking property that would one day be our permanent home. When Pastor Jason reached out about a 10-acre piece of land, the owner responded, “Would you be interested in looking at a 40-acre plot for the same price?”
The First Campaign
We launched our first capital campaign on March 1, 2020, to raise $750,000. Two Sundays later, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we closed our doors and wouldn’t meet again for many months. The pandemic was no match for the radical generosity and faithfulness of the RCNB family, and we retired the entire debt in 51 weeks. We were property owners.
Owning land and building a church are two very different propositions. We were still too big for our building, but unwilling to gut our ministries to families and hungry children in New Braunfels in order to fund construction. So we prayed again.
And then the phone rang...
A friend of River City called us and offered to sell us The Venue in Creekside in turnkey condition at an incredible price. Once again, the congregation responded with overwhelming support and four years to the day we kicked off our first project, on March 1, 2023, we closed and moved in to our new home.
And once again, through steady generosity, we retired that debt 17.5 years ahead of schedule.
Over and over, we have seen the Father’s faithful, miraculous provision as we have prioritized making Jesus known and serving our city.
A Church for New Braunfels
Now we enter another season of trust. We are committed to welcoming our neighbors and serving New Braunfels without becoming “house poor.” Our goal is to raise $3 million ($1.5 million by the end of 2026 and another $1.5 million by the end of 2027) so that we can once again live debt-free and remain open-handed toward our neighbors.
Ours has been a story of faith and provision, and we don’t feel like that story is done.
We would love for you to join us in our calling to be a church for New Braunfels, authentically experiencing and expressing God’s love in our lives and community.
