praying the Lord’s Prayer

Take a moment to step into God’s presence. Find a quiet place, put away distractions, and get comfortable—but stay alert. Take a few deep breaths and notice your surroundings, your body, and how you’re feeling. Open your heart to God in this present moment.

Pray from a deep place within you, following these steps:

  1. “Our Father, who art in heaven” – God as Loving Parent
Picture God as your perfect Father in heaven—loving, kind, and full of good intentions toward you. Imagine His smile, His embrace, and His nearness. Let His presence surround you like air, and as you breathe, invite Him deeper into your life.

  2. “Hallowed be thy name” – Worship and Gratitude
Pause to worship. You might sit in silence, sing a chorus, or list what you’re thankful for. Praise God for His holiness, His goodness, and the ways He has shown His love in your life.

  3. “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven” – Intercession
Pray for God’s kingdom to break through—in your family, your church, your community, and your world. Ask for healing, justice, provision, and peace. Lift up whatever’s on your heart, knowing His will is good.

  4. “Give us this day our daily bread” – Needs and Requests
Bring your needs before Him—physical, emotional, relational, financial, or spiritual. Trust Him to provide and to guide you in the areas you need Him most.

  5. “And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors” – Confession and Forgiveness
Be honest about where you’ve fallen short. Confess your sins and receive His forgiveness. Then pray for those who have wronged you, asking God to help you release bitterness and extend His mercy to them.

  6. “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil” – Strength and Protection
Ask God to strengthen you against temptation and to deliver you from harm and evil. Pray for protection from pride, selfishness, lies, fear, or anything that pulls you away from Him.

  7. “For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever” – Closing Praise
Finish by declaring God’s greatness. Acknowledge His rule, His power, and His glory over your life and over the world. End with thanks and a heart of trust.

Amen.
